Meet the Families
Our story begins back in 2001 as freshman in high school. We were best of friends for our entire high school experience. Brittney attended Matt’s hockey, baseball, and football games, and proudly (and loudly) cheered him on every single game! After high school, we started down different paths. In 2009, we reunited through Facebook and our roads became one.
Matt had purchased a home that he was determined to rebuild himself, and Brittney jumped right in helping him with every part of the process. From tearing down walls to relocating rooms and building an addition, it took two entire years of hard work, lots of mutual agreements, and daily dedication before we finally set a move-in date. About 6 months after living together, Matt proposed to Britt, and we married in 2012.
Weeks before the wedding, we found out we were pregnant! We were absolutely ecstatic! Although Britt had very high risk/bed ridden pregnancies, in 2013 she gave birth to a full-term, healthy boy, Logan, and again, in 2016, our second boy, Gavin, was born. Being parents to two boys has only intensified our feelings of wanting to parent another child.
For us, adoption has been a respected subject in our families. Matt’s father, 2 aunts, and uncle were all adopted. Brittney’s cousin was also adopted by her aunt who was a foster parent for many years.
As Parents, we spend a lot of time with our children and do as many things as we can as a family. Whenever possible, we eat meals at the table together and keep open communication.
We talk to each other about how to handle situations and difficulties we might be having with the kids. We try to always be on the same page to provide them consistency.
Our love for our kids is endless and we try to make each day as fun and memorable as possible.
Meet Matt…
I enjoy outdoor activities and spending time with family. I live my life by finding the positive in every situation. I enjoy paintball, snowmobiling, 4wheeling, hunting and playing hockey.
People describe me as kind, hard-working, respectful, easy going, and fun.
Meet Brittney…
I enjoy anything and everything to do with our children. I love singing/dancing, live entertainment, comedy, outdoor recreation, watching sports, and baking/cooking. I enjoy doing things for others when they least expect it and need it most.
People would describe me as loving, kind-hearted, patient, family oriented, thoughtful, smart, and determined. I have a fun and outgoing personality and am dedicated to friends and family.
Meet Logan & Gavin
Logan was born in 2013, and Gavin in 2016. Our boys have a fantastic relationship and often want to be doing the exact same thing as the other.
Logan enjoys doing anything and everything his Daddy does. He loves to spend time cooking and crafting with Mom. Logan enjoys ice skating, 4wheeling and playing t-ball and soccer.
Logan is especially excited to be a big brother for a second time and is always explaining to Gavin what they need to teach their younger sibling once he/she arrives.
Gavin loves puzzles and wrestling with his big brother. He is strong willed and extremely determined to learn and do new things. He is very interested in helping Mommy cook, and always wants to be outside!
Our Family:
We are very close with our families and see them often.
Matt is the oldest of 5 with 4 sisters.
Our children are close with their cousins who are all very close in age to one another (from newborn-6 years old). We also have lots of nieces and nephews – 6 to be exact, with two more on the way!!!
Brittney is the middle child with an older brother and younger sister.
