Meet the Families
We first met over a decade ago during a running club in the Boston area. Since we were both already in existing relationships ours began as a friendship. Luckily for us both of those relationships ran out of steam and we began the first steps of our lifelong commitment to each other. Surprisingly we both grew up in South Florida though we didn’t meet until Lindsay moved to Boston. After a wild ride in the greater Boston housing market Brian sneakily proposed to Lindsay on the front steps the day we closed on our new home together. Our primary goal for our wedding was to host an event that portrayed us as a couple so we settled on rustic VT and organized a hike for the wedding guests, had a focus on fine food, and made sure that our guests were relaxed and enjoying themselves. The last few years we’ve enjoyed being married and deepening our relationship.
“Brian is a very special man and I am so grateful to have him as my partner in life. We have been together for over 10 years and he truly is my best friend. He is very intelligent, funny, and is always up for an adventure. Although he is very responsible and diligent with his work he is also a kid at heart, sometimes silly and always eager to rewatch comic book movies countless times over.”~ Lindsay
“Lindsay has always had a strong maternal instinct. As a teenager she helped provide care for her baby sister, 11 years younger than her. Early in our relationship she transitioned careers and spent several years as a nanny. It was obvious to me the kind of mother Lindsay would become from the amazing care she provided and strong relationships she formed with the children in her care. Now many of our friends and close relatives have children and it’s remarkable to see the way Lindsay cares for them as well. I can’t wait to help Lindsay share her passion for children within our family.”~ Brian
Cody is our 8 year old black lab puppy who’s been a constant companion by our side since we adopted him at just 4 months old. Over the years we’ve had many adventures hiking, swimming, and exploring New England together. As you can see from our photos Cody loves being around children and is incredibly patient and gentle with them. He gets top billing when we visit with friends and, as our close friend’s son Avery says whenever he sees Brian, “Where’s Cody?” Cody is excited for the opportunity to be an older brother.
Food is central to our daily lives and we enjoy spending time planning, cooking, or eating our next meal together. We love trying new restaurants and new recipes and hosting friends for our foodie experiments. Music is always playing in our house and we love seeing our favorite bands in person. We’re also both very active and enjoy biking, hiking, yoga, and taking Cody for long walks. The ideal start to our day involves walking Cody to a nearby pond and then enjoying coffee together. A perfect ending would involve a nice meal shared with friends.
Both of our parents have been married for over 40 years and they have taught us so much about love and commitment. Lindsay’s parents are both retired and live in Florida. Lindsay’s mom is the family baker and quick to share her tips with anyone who will listen. She is very caring and thoughtful and still sends care packages to Lindsay to this day. Lindsay’s dad is a geologist and he loves talking about rocks! He loves boating, fishing, and grilling. Lindsay is the oldest of four siblings. One of her brothers lives in Chicago with his wife and their four year old daughter. Also in Florida are her younger sister and remaining brother and his wife, who just welcomed a baby boy as their first child. Brian’s parents, grandparents, and brother live in Florida. His dad is an attorney who loves watching sports and his mom an avid swimmer and athlete and loves spending time with her dog. Even though both of our families live out of state it’s very important to us that they feel much less distant and so we make it a priority to talk on the phone or visit in-person when possible. We love having our family come visit us and getting to explore the Boston area with them. We’re also fortunate to have a few cousins in the area and so we are establishing some new traditions with our local family. Our families are always excited to welcome new little ones into the clan. There is no doubt this baby will have lots of love from grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!
Every Christmas we watch holiday movies (like Elf!) and bake cookies with friends. We attend the candlelight service on Christmas Eve and prepare food for Christmas Day to match Lindsay’s childhood. We light the Chanukah candles together and Lindsay has gained experience saying the Hebrew blessings and preparing fried latkes to celebrate. We usually host a large Friendsgiving celebration at our house with many of our friends.
We bought our home near Boston almost four years ago. Our space has already provided so much joy to us but we recognize that it’s missing the tell-tale sounds of children laughing and playing. Our home has access to great schools and parks and other families. We’re also right near a bike path which is great for walking and biking. We have a small yard where we enjoy spending time as well. Finally our house has easy access to Boston and all of the museums, restaurants, and parks that Boston has to offer.
