Meet the Families
We grew up in India and immigrated to the USA for our postgraduate training. We were best friends in medical school and got married in 2004.
In 2007, we moved to Boston for work and fell in love with the city’s history and culture. Soon after settling into our jobs and home, we got pregnant and had our son.
Ever since we started dating we both knew that one day we will adopt a child. This is our way of extending our blessing and receiving the love of another person in our lives.
We both grew up with a sibling. We wish our children to be strong support for each other.
Puneeta is 40 years young. She is an attentive mother, loyal friend and a beautiful person. She enjoys dancing, running, hiking and baking. Aarjav is picking up all these hobbies, too.
Priyank is 40 years old. He has always been my best friend. He is a dedicated father, teacher and doctor. He loves math and puzzles and coming up with creative ways to challenge Aarjav in these.
Aarjav was born in Boston in 2012 and is a fun-loving a caring 8- year old boy. He plays soccer, basketball, tennis and swims. He enjoys building Legos, playing chess, learning guitar and painting. He often hangs around when we are cooking and takes interest in learning that. He is planning to get a bunk bed where he can stay with his younger sibling, and is excited to teach (her/him) all his favorite sports and activities.
Family and Friends
Puneeta has one sibling who lives in India and has a 13 year old son. Her parents live in India.
Priyank has one sibling who lives in California. His mother died at a young age from a non-inheritable disease. His father has immigrated to the USA and is living in California.
We meet our extended families twice a year. All three grandparents are healthy and are engaged in Aarjav’s upbringing. Everyone is fully supportive of our decision to adopt our second child.
Our friends from college live in Boston and New York. We have made new friends from many different countries and backgrounds who we met through Aarjav’s school. We have cultivated these relationships through mutual respect, openness and shared experiences.
Our Home
We currently live in the city and have recently bought a home in the suburbs that we will be moving to in the Fall of 2020 It has a beautiful backyard and we are looking forward to our family picnics and gardening adventures. The town has an excellent school system and many wonderful parks and children’s activities.
Routines and Traditions
We are both full-time physicians. Puneeta is looking forward to taking several months off to be with the baby and Priyank will also take parental leave.
We have dinner together everyday and share events of the day with each other. On weekends, we go hiking or skiing depending on the weather.
Aarjav’s birthday tradition is for us to rent a cottage in White Mountains or upstate New York with our friends.
Our Faith
We believe in the intrinsic moral worth of all living beings and in conservation of the environment. We do not follow any organized religion.
We celebrate holidays of all faith, recognizing in them the universal message of love, forgiveness and gratitude.
