We were lucky enough to be able to buy a new home when we moved back to the East Coast from California last year. We live in a neighborhood that is a great mix of city and suburb. We have a nice back and front yard, but the excitement and ease of city life right nearby. Our house includes a nice open downstairs area that connects the kitchen, dining room, and living room. We have always imagined evenings where Rose is cooking dinner, Andrew is getting work done or watching the news, and our child is at the kitchen table getting homework done.
We love to celebrate holidays and all the traditions that come with them. Andrew’s father is a church organist so he grew up heavily involved in the Methodist church. Rose’s family is not religious, but love the traditions that come with holidays. Andrew and Rose have kept many of their traditions from growing up and continue to celebrate Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving with family every year. Rose loves decorating, whether it is sticking little flags out for Memorial Day or carving jack o’ lanterns. Birthdays are also welcomed with the appropriate excitement of a homemade cake every year. Our favorite holiday is probably Thanksgiving, which Rose has hosted every year since college. She keeps a book with the guest lists, menus, and any memorable events (like the year Andrew’s brother brought his pet rabbit which Frankie, our cat, thought looked like a great addition to dinner!).
